The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which transports Azerbaijani gas to Europe, has so far delivered nearly 40 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, TAP's Managing Director Luca Schieppati said during the Italian Energy Summit, APA-Economics reports.

“TAP has guaranteed the security of Europe’s supply by transporting just under 40 billion cubic meters of gas,” Schieppati noted.

According to him, 32.8 billion cubic meters of the mentioned amount were delivered to Italy. TAP accounts for more than 15% of Italy's second gas import source.

TAP is the European segment of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), a complex value chain of energy projects for the transportion of natural gas from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in the Caspian Sea to Europe, within the framework of the second stage of its exploitation.

Currently, the shareholders of TAP are following: BP - 20%, SOCAR (SGC) - 20%, Snam S.p.A. - 20%, Fluxys - 20%, and Enagás - 20%.

Note that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via TAP began on December 31, 2020.
