"The decline in the Caspian Sea level prevents tankers from being fully loaded at the Aktau International Trade Port," Abay Turikpenbaev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Aktau International Trade Port, said during the "Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum" organized by "GLENMAR Group," APA reports.

According to him, in response to the mentioned problem, project and budget documents for deepening the seabed within the port area have already been prepared.

Abay Turikpenbayev also noted that the dredging work under the project is planned to be carried out in three phases.

"We plan to start dredging works in June to reach a depth of 7.7 meters. This will allow tankers to be fully loaded. This is just the first phase. It will give us the opportunity to operate in this mode for another 3-4 years. If the current dynamics of the sea level decline continue, we will proceed with the second and third phases of dredging," emphasized Abay Turikpenbayev.
