"Azerbaijan’s significant contribution to ensuring Europe’s energy security has been acknowledged," Mushfiq Jafarov, Member of Parliament, told APA
The deputy said that the "European Political Community" summit was held yesterday in Albania: The purpose of the "European Political Community" (EPC) initiative is to strengthen stability across the continent, deepen political dialogue, and expand cooperation. This platform is the best opportunity for states with different interests and geopolitical positions to come together and discuss common problems. In particular, involving countries that are not members of the European Union in the process increases trust in the initiative's democratic nature and humanity.
Mushfiq Jafarov noted that during the summit held in Tirana, President Ilham Aliyev met with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission: Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen expressed that Azerbaijan is an important and reliable partner of the European Union and highly appreciated the support that our country provided especially during Europe’s energy needs. Von der Leyen and Michel personally requested a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan. Previously, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, had a successful visit to Azerbaijan. All these developments indicate a positive shift in the European Union’s policy towards Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s relations with the Central Asian region and its leading role in the Middle Corridor were emphasized. Additionally, satisfaction was expressed about Azerbaijan’s role as a platform for dialogue among various parties to ensure peace and stability both in the region and beyond its borders.
The discussion also touched upon the negotiations within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, highlighting the great prospects for cooperation with the European Union in this field. Other mutually interesting issues were also exchanged during the conversation.
As can be seen, Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the European Union as a reliable partner is appreciated both economically and politically. Azerbaijan’s important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security and its position as a key actor in regional security have been acknowledged. All these factors guarantee the achievements that Azerbaijan, the leader of the South Caucasus, has made and will continue to make.
