"The lack of coordination between developed and developing countries can lead to a major disaster," the Chief Executive Officer of COP29 Azerbaijan Elnur Soltanov said at a panel discussion on “Climate Action and Media," APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
He noted that one of the main issues within the framework of COP29 is the establishment of a new financing model.
"If we do not achieve the goal, then we will achieve nothing. As Azerbaijan, we will create a favorable platform for bringing together various parties. So far, 13 activities have been carried out in preparation for COP29. Many tasks and technical issues must be resolved in this direction by November 11. Besides financing climate change, the creation of a special fund and the implementation of planned adaptation programs are also included. Although different financial directions are considered here, it is important to involve state finances in the implementation of all projects in this direction. All parties must be active to achieve the goals. The outcomes of COP29 will be reflected in the final document. One of the topics at COP29 will be the preservation of renewable energy sources until 2030. Azerbaijan is doing certain work in this direction. Azerbaijan believes that creating green corridors and alternative energy sources is very important. Today, one of the factors causing several countries to face a climate crisis is water scarcity. We aim to bring more relevant national and regional issues to the discussion at COP29," he said.
