“We need to strengthen cooperation with international financial organizations and development banks to achieve our climate change goals,” said Rania El-Mashat, Egypt’s acting Minister of International Cooperation, APA's correspondent assigned to Cairo reports.
She said that currently, a number of countries are currently facing a conflict of interest in the field of climate change: “Hosting an event like COP29 is a very important aspect. Because countries that are not exposed to pollution will discuss how much funding and what level of cooperation is necessary to solve this problem the other countries are facing, as well as cooperation in this area. To set global climate goals, we viewed many areas. One of them is the calculating of the damage caused by this factor, and the second is the issue of cooperation with different countries to fight it. Because the countries represented on international platforms are the parties in charge of this field. A number of countries face a conflict of interest in this area. Therefore, we want to accelerate the allocation of funds for the implementation of various projects to fight climate change and to make this issue a priority for states. There’s a need to strengthen cooperation with international financial organizations and development banks in order to achieve our climate change goals. The total amount of carbon dioxide emitted by the African region is less than 4 percent. However, a fairly high amount of funds is required to prevent this. We hope to actively participate in COP29 and convey our congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan for hosting this prestigious event. We wish success to the work of such a great conference.”
