"As IRENA, we want to renew and reaffirm our commitment to support the goal of limiting global temperature increase in 1.5 degrees," said Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), at a panel discussion held in Baku within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (Pre-COP29), APA reports.
He said that the global energy transition is not only a technical or economic problem, but also a moral imperative: "As we gather here today, we are reminded of our commitments under the Paris Agreement, which is the cornerstone of our collective fight against climate change. This is not a distant goal, but an urgent necessity, and it will require unwavering political will from all of us."
