“Climate change is not just a technical issue, it is directly connected to the fields of economic and social justice," UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan Nigar Arpadarai said on the 4th day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW), APA reports.
She emphasized that shaping the workforce of tomorrow starting today is very important: “Energy infrastructure and agriculture will now require new personnel and skills. Therefore, universities and colleges should effectively train personnel in these fields. Universities should be living laboratories. What they say about renewable energy should not remain just words. As the COP leadership, we have presented 14 initiatives, one of which is related to human development. It is especially important to instill the next COPs in children and youth in the future. Climate change should be a matter of concern for all of society. The role of universities in this area is crucial.”
