“We are fighting against the depletion of natural resources within the framework of the "Green Kazakhstan" program, which we announced for the purpose of climate change and environmental protection. For this, 16 goals have been defined,” said Chairman of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Yerlan Koshanov at 13th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), APA reports.
He said that today, the most urgent problem facing the world countries is climate change, which not every state can cope with alone: “Kazakhstan fulfills its obligations related to climate issues. We have a program on carbon neutralization by 2060. Our goal is to significantly reduce harmful waste by 2030. We must prevent the processes taking place, as well as the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Another goal of ours is to encourage the production of green products, that is, ecologically clean products, as well as achieving a broader encouragement of the green agenda by 2040. All of this should be realized in parallel. In this context, the works carried out in TURKPA commissions are important. We have revealed our intention to participate in the COP29 event that is going to be held in Baku. Kazakhstan is doing its best to play an important role in solving issues in all directions.”
