"We are in a difficult situation. There is a serious collapsing, fragmentation. We must take steps for the future,” said André Corrêa do Lago, Secretary for Climate, Energy and Environment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil during the panel discussion held within the framework of Pre-COP29: Enhancing Ambitions and Enabling Action, APA reports.
He said that multilateralism should be encouraged: “Unfortunately, many people think that multilateralism will yield results. But we must work to make multilateralism a reality. We think that high results can be achieved in Baku. We must strive to gain achievements. Brazil is represented in the G 20. Brazil believes in the legitimacy of multilateralism and constantly emphasizes it. A meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the G20 was held in New York, and we encouraged multilateralism. Brazil and everything we do must promote multilateralism."
