On October 11, the COP29 Presidency organized an event called "Strengthening a Sustainable and Persistent Future: The Role of Human Development in Climate Action" within the framework of Pre-COP29 at the Heydar Aliyev Center, APA reports.
At the event, including the World Health Organization, UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, the International Labor Organization and multilateral development banks, as well as civil society and philanthropic organizations, "Baku Initiative on Human Development for Climate Resilience" prepared through consultations with global partners was presented and discussions were held in this direction. The representatives of governments, international organizations and civil society came together to exchange ideas on the integration of human development into climate resilience strategies at the event.
The event reaffirmed the important role of human development in climate action, and feedback from participants will contribute to the further improvement of the Baku Initiative on Human Development for Climate Resilience.
