"Climate change is an important issue for the security of countries,” said Elshad Iskandarov, an ambassador on special assignment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan at the panel meeting held in Baku within the framework of the Preliminary Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (Pre-COP29), APA reports.
He said that climate change leads to human displacement and creates obstacles to people's daily life: “Within COP29, our main topic of discussion will be water security, prevention of human migration due to climate change, land degradation, etc. COP29 highlighted the links between climate change and peace. There’s a need for an analytical report in clarifying of the mutual influence between peace and climate change. Building synergy between COP and non-COP initiatives is one of our main goals."
