Armenia’s unrest bears signs of ‘colorful revolution’

"At present, the external situation resembles as a conflict of people dissatisfied with their socio-economic well-being," Kosachev said.

"But there is no need to delude ourselves,” he said. “All "color revolutions" developed according to the same scenario. And Armenia is not insured against this."

The Russian official said there are hundreds of foreign commercial organizations operating in Armenia which have considerable influence on the public opinion for the country to opt for a pro-western path of development.

“A dilemma between the East and the West has already brought about a conflict in Ukraine and set apart the public opinion. This is completely an artificial choice and an unfair political game,” Kosachev added.

The Federal Council is closely following the events in Armenia, Kosachev said, noting that the upper chamber of the Russian parliament does not rule out the presence of foreign NGOs behind the latest campaigns in Armenia.
