The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing today, called the question of an Armenian journalist about Azerbaijan's alleged destruction of historical monuments in Karabakh, as well as monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, disrespectful and insulting, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
Zakharova asked the Armenian journalist why they were not interested in monuments to Soviet soldiers demolished in other countries.
"I have never heard, I have never seen that you have a single piece of material on this. Were there no Red Army soldiers of Armenian origin among the monuments and graves demolished in Ukraine, sir? I have never heard your question or your desire to talk about this. Why? We understand very well in what context and why you are raising this topic. There is no need to do this. This is already disrespectful, insulting. Asking me such questions, regularly asking questions about this... I say again that the memory of your compatriot Red Army soldiers is regularly insulted in the territory of the European Union countries. Where are you? What is your reaction? But our country comes out and defends them by all possible means. What are you talking about? This is already crossing the line. I say again, this is not a sharp issue, a difficult topic. This is disrespectful," Zakharova emphasized.
