European states, particularly France, are interested in escalating tensions in the South Caucasus to achieve their geopolitical goals, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova during a briefing, APA reports.
She said that Moscow has witnessed steps taken under the guise of mediation by the Élysée Palace that actually aim to destabilize the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"By the way, French representatives do not share the information they gather in the region with their Armenian counterparts. The reason is clear—this data is directly sent to Brussels. Why? Because no one is hiding Brussels' intentions in the post-Soviet space.
This is about constant chaos, subversion, and harmful actions. In addition, both the European Union and France are focused on expanding the operational scope of their mission," Zakharova emphasized.
