Normalization of Azerbaijan-Iran relations will have a positive effect on the situation in the South Caucasus and Caspian Sea region as a whole, the Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova said at a briefing she held today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to her, Moscow sees great potential in the development of the regional projects between South Caucasus countries and their neighbours: "This logic is espeacially reflected in our work on expanding the North-South international transport corridor. We are committed to continuing the close cooperation with Baku and Tehran, as well as within the framework of Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran dialogue format, and also within 3+3 consultative regional cooperation platform. Let me remind that this includes Russia, Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. We are confident that the regional actors themselves must look for solutions to the existing problems without outside interference. There is relevant positive experience for this and we must rely on it," the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson noted.
