Russia hands over control functions of Zvartnots airport to Armenia after 32 years

After 32 years, the representatives of the Border Service of the Russian Federal Security Service handed over the functions of state border protection at the "Zvartnots" checkpoint to the Armenian side, APA reports citing Armenian media.

The protocol in this regard was signed by the commander of the Border Troops of the National Security Service of Armenia, Edgar Hunanyan, and the head of the Border Department of the Russian Security Service in Armenia, Lieutenant General Roman Golubitsky.

The official ceremony held in Yerevan was attended by the management and personnel of the Border Department of the Russian Federal Security Service in Armenia and the Border Troops of the Armenian National Security Service.

Noted that Armenia will perform the state border protection functions at the checkpoint at the "Zvartnots" airport of Yerevan from tomorrow.
