Russia and China call on nuclear powers to engage in dialogue

Russia and China call on nuclear states to abandon Cold War-style actions and resolve issues through dialogue, this was stated in a joint declaration following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held at the Kremlin, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

The declaration emphasized that the leaders of Russia and China noted the increasing risks of nuclear conflict in the world: "Russia and China consider the actions of certain states aimed at developing 'joint nuclear missions' and 'expanded nuclear deterrence' schemes to be provocative."

The declaration also touched on the Ukraine conflict. It was stated that to achieve a lasting settlement to the Ukraine crisis, its root causes must be addressed: "Russia and China support all efforts to establish peace in Ukraine."

Additionally, the declaration noted that Moscow and Beijing intend to increase mutual activity and strengthen coordination in order to firmly oppose Washington's "dual containment" approach towards Russia and China.

Russia and China slam US President Donald Trump’s plans for an “Iron Dome” missile defense system as “deeply destabilizing” in a joint statement issued after talks between presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in Moscow. “The recently announced large-scale ‘Golden (Iron) Dome for America’ program is also deeply destabilizing,” says the statement published by the Kremlin. The plan “explicitly provides for a significant strengthening of the arsenal for conducting combat operations in space,” it adds.

Russia and China call for measures to restore the credibility of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and to return its work to a technical channel free from politics. Russia and China urge Japan to fully dismantle the remaining chemical weapons on Chinese territory as soon as possible. The Russian Federation reaffirms its commitment to the "One China" principle and acknowledges that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.

Russia and China call for the stabilization of the situation in the Middle East and support the resolution of acute problems through political and diplomatic means," the joint declaration of Putin and Jinping states.
