"The Kremlin is not concerned that growing ties between China and the Central Asian republics could harm Russia’s interests in the region, " said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
"We have no such concerns, and there is no basis for them. China is our key strategic partner. The Central Asian countries are our natural allies and partners, both historically and today. Our cooperation with China is based on mutual benefit and respect and is not aimed against any third country. The same applies to our relations with Central Asian nations. Russia has its own mechanisms for cooperation, including the Russia–Central Asia dialogue, and maintains integration partnerships with many of these states through various programs and organizations like the CIS. Therefore, all this cooperation is based on mutual respect and has a harmonious character," he stated.
