Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered Ukraine to resume direct talks in Istanbul. Putin said this at a press conference, APA 's Moscow correspondent reports.
"We propose to Kiev to resume direct negotiations without any preconditions. We propose to start the negotiations in Istanbul on May 15," the Russian leader emphasized.
Putin added that he will speak to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tomorrow and ask him to provide a platform for talks with Ukraine.
The Russian President noted that it is possible to agree on new ceasefires.
"We are ready for serious negotiations. Our proposals are on the table. The Ukrainian authorities and curators must make a decision. Russia is ready for negotiations without any conditions. We need to achieve a long-term peace. Now there is a war and we are offering negotiations, what's wrong with that?" Putin stressed.
