Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that the increase in nuclear arms in the European Union will not bring security and stability to the Old Continent, APA reports.

"The proliferation of nuclear weapons on the European continent is something that will not add security, predictability and stability to the European continent. Now the entire strategic stability and security system is in a deplorable state for obvious reasons," Peskov told journalists when asked about French President Emmanuel Macron's statement regarding his readiness to consider the deployment of French aircraft with nuclear weapons in other European countries.

Later this week, representatives from Russia and Ukraine are scheduled to meet in Istanbul for negotiations on a 30-day ceasefire.
