The Kremlin has called the lifting of restrictions by European countries on the types of weapons supplied to Ukraine an escalation, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
Press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated that this decision by European countries constitutes an escalation.
“Yesterday, Merz announced that a decision had been made to lift the restrictions. Yesterday, one of the cabinet members denied this. Today, or late last night, Merz insisted that such a decision had been made several months ago. One way or another, if this is true, it is an escalation, and a serious escalation that directly contradicts efforts for a peaceful settlement,” the Kremlin spokesperson emphasized.
Note that on May 26, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States had lifted restrictions on the types of weapons supplied to Ukraine. Later, Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil stated that Germany's policy regarding the types of German weapons Ukraine can receive remains unchanged.
