The settlement options for Ukraine cannot be made public and must be discussed in confidentiality, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said while commenting at a briefing on media publications about various peace proposals and Moscow's alleged readiness to freeze the conflict along the current line of contact, APA reports citing TASS.
"There are a lot of different reports in the media. You understand that no outline of different settlement options can be made public. As soon as they become public, they lose their effectiveness," he said.
He said that this is why "the work is carried out in a private mode and it should be carried out in silence." "That's our basis. And we urge you to be very, very careful about such information reports."
Peskov declined to say whether Russia was demanding that Ukraine legally recognize the Russian status of Crimea as part of the settlement. "Individual possible elements of the settlement will not be discussed publicly. This is why we will not comment on individual details," he said.
