"The Kremlin is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the arrest of Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the “Tashir” Group, in Armenia," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, Moscow is ready to provide all necessary assistance to Karapetyan as a citizen of the Russian Federation.
“We do not intend to interfere in Armenia’s internal affairs, but of course, we are closely following everything related to a Russian citizen,” the Kremlin representative emphasized.
It should be noted that Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan has been arrested in Armenia. The Armenian Criminal Police have launched searches at his residence. Everything started after the businessman stood up in defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also commented on the events on his social media account: “This is not the village of Nizhniy Tapr in Kaluga for you, this is Armenia. I hope the taste of the state will linger with you.”
