Kazakhstan ready to hand over administration of 20 airports to EU companies

The Kazakhstan side is ready to transfer more than 20 airports in the country under the management of European investors, the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev said at the EU-Central Asia Transport Investment Forum taking place in Brussels, APA reports quoting TASS.

The head of the department noted that the largest airports of the republic - Astana and Almaty - are already under the control of foreign holdings: “We are ready to transfer the remaining 22 airports in Kazakhstan to the private sector under the management of European investors. There is great potential for becoming a transit hub between Asia and Europe."

The EU-Central Asia Transport Investment Forum is taking place in Brussels. It is attended by representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
