In an incident at penal colony No. 19 in Russia's Volgograd region, four employees of the Penitentiary Service were killed, the Russian Penitentiary Service said, APA reports.

According to an announcement, four prisoners claiming to be ISIS members took 8 employees and 4 inmates hostage. Some of the hostages resisted.

The terrorists inflicted various degrees of injuries on the four employees with sharp and blunt objects. Three of them died on the spot, while four others who resisted were hospitalized, with one later passing away in the hospital.

Note that the operation conducted by the Russian National Guard resulted in the neutralization of all four terrorists, and the hostages were freed.

In the facility, several inmates who presented themselves as members of ISIS killed three employees of the penitentiary service and took several hostages.

Telegram channel "Mash" broadcasted a video recording the death of three people.

It was reported that the radicals who killed the employees of the prison demanded 2 million dollars and a helicopter.

The head of the Penitentiary, Andrey Devyatov, was also among those taken hostage, but managed to escape. It was announced that Devyatov is currently in intensive care.

It was revealed that the incident took place in the colony when the meeting of the disciplinary commission was being held. This was reported by the Federal Penitentiary Service.

Currently, work is ongoing to release the hostages, and special officers have arrived at the scene.

In total, it is reported that 1230 prisoners are serving time in the colony.

Prison authorities told the RIA Novosti news agency that the inmate uprising took place at the IK-19 Surovikino penal colony, located around 120 kilometers (74.5 miles) west of the region’s capital city Volgograd.

An unverified photo shared by news channels on the Telegram message app purported to show inmates at the penal colony standing above a bloodied prison guard.

It became known that the prisoners who killed the employees of the detention center in Volgorad were members of ISIS, banned in the Russian Federation.

The videos show that at least 3 people were killed, several others were injured and hostages were taken in prison No. 19.

Among those who took hostages, it was noted that there was one person who was found guilty of terrorism.

Security forces are currently on the scene, special forces are preparing to raid the detention center.
