The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued a response to recent accusations made by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan against Moscow, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
The ministry’s spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed regret over Simonyan’s rhetoric, saying: “Such attacks and insults are unbecoming of the image of a parliamentary speaker. I don’t understand how one can speak of a 'hybrid war' against Armenia when its leaders are regularly invited to celebrations, and high-level contacts, including through the Foreign Ministry, are maintained,” she said with clear sarcasm.
Zakharova was reacting to Simonyan's recent claim that “Russia is waging a hybrid war against Armenia.”
It is worth noting that verbal sparring between Simonyan and Zakharova has been ongoing for some time. In the past, Simonyan referred to Zakharova dismissively as a “secretary” in response to her statements criticizing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s administration.
