Yerevan police detained Hambik Sasunyan, a member of the ASALA terrorist organization who participated in the anti-government protests, APA reports citing Sputnik-Armenia.
According to the publication, Sasunyan was taken in an unknown direction.
Recall that, A. Sasunyan was sentenced to life in prison without a right to submit a mercy appeal for assassinating Türkiye's Consul General in Los Angeles, Kamal Arika in 1982.
In 2016, the California Court issued a sentence on the conditional release of Hambik Sasunyan.
The approval of the decision was entrusted to the governor of California.
As a result of the discussions over three years the mentioned decision was implemented in December 2019.
