The text of Armenia’s new Constitution will be ready in 10 months, Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan told journalists, APA reports citing Armenian media.

The justice minister said that the document is currently in the drafting stage and various versions are under discussion.

Srbuhi Galyan also touched upon Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statement. She emphasized that the issue of removing the reference to the Declaration of Independence from the Constitution has not been discussed.

Note that Pashinyan recently stated that the new Constitution should not contain a reference to the Declaration of Independence.

Recall that the Declaration of Independence includes territorial claims against Azerbaijan. It contains a clause about the necessity of unifying the former Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia. Azerbaijan strongly opposes this and has set constitutional amendments in Armenia as a condition for signing a peace agreement.
