Yuri Shedrin: More than 700 enterprises in Russia are headed by Azerbaijanis

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The Caspian Integration Business Club has today hosted a meeting on the topic of “Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia: Situation and Prospects”.
Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov spoke of the current level of bilateral relations, underlining the need to deepen economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Russia’s Trade Officer in Azerbaijan Yuri Shedrin added that there was a 52.6% year-on-year increase in trade turnover between the two countries during January-September.
“The volume of trade turnover for January-November is predicted to reach $2 billion. Also, the turnover is projected to grow by 10% next year,” he noted.
He also said that chemicals, vehicle spare parts, construction materials and other products accounted for 90% of Russian exports to Azerbaijan.
According to him, there are 54 Azerbaijani-Russian joint ventures in Russia.
“Over 700 enterprises in Russia are headed by Azerbaijanis and heads of about 3 000 businesses are Azeri migrants. I hope that Azerbaijan will soon open a trade office in Russia to give additional impetus to the development of economic cooperation,” he noted.
Yuri Shedin said that Russia’s large companies such as Baltika and Vneshtorgbank have presence in Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by CIBC members, MPs, representatives of diplomatic corps and government, as well as Azerbaijani and Russian companies and organizations.
