Today, the opening ceremony of the Vugar Hashimov Chess Memorial took place in Azerbaijan's Shusha, APA reports.
The Secial Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aydin Karimov, the President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and FIDE vice president Mahir Mammadov, as well as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vugar Hashimov's father, Gasim Hashimov participated in the event.
Following the ceremony, the drawing of lots took place.
Note that three chess players will represent Azerbaijan in the tournament: national team members Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, and Aydin Suleymanli.
