Chiefs of Iranian and Azerbaijani State Border Services Major-General Qasim Rezai and Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev signed new agreements at the meeting. Concrete context of the documents hasn’t been publicized.

Chief of Iranian State Border Service Qasim Rezai said that the mutual visits of chiefs of the two countries’ border services further strengthen the foundation of cultural and peaceful relations.

Mr. Rezai added that they exchanged views on smuggling and other issues during the meeting. “The enemies’ intents to create chaos in the region and our intention to prevent these provocations caused us to organize meetings jointly with Azerbaijan. Iran’s border with Azerbaijan extends for nearly 650 km. Considering this long border line, the commanders conduct discussions on a regular basis.
