Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. A conference entitled “Methods of modern warfare and security challenges” is being held in Baku as part of the First Azerbaijan International Defense Industry Exhibition (ADEX-2014).
In his speech at the conference, Minister of Defense Yaver Jamalov noted that Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry has achieved to build cooperation with the world’s 34 military-industrial complexes, APA reports.
Yaver Jamalov said that 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory is under occupation, and 1 million Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons. According to him, defense industry enterprises have been reconstructed for this reason, a number of current and long-term plans prepared to create defense products, more than 1,700 devices and designs imported and installed. During activities of the Ministry of Defense Industry, 51 production units were established: “Today, infantry and artillery weapons, unmanned drones, armored vehicles are produced. The volume of export transactions is steadily increasing. Azerbaijan is displaying 168 different types of local-made products at the exhibition”.
Yaver Jamalov said he believes the exhibition ADEX-2014 will serve peace and security in the world: “I invite you to attend the second international defense exhibition to be held in 2016”.

Note that, Turkish Defense Industry Undersecretary Ismayıl Demir, President of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) Richard Fontaine, Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan’s Defense Industry Yahya Musayev, Director General of Turkey’s MKEK company İzzet Artniç, Executive Director of the Paramount Group" company Ivor Ichikowitz will make a speech at the conference.
