Azerbaijani Parliament told APA that it was proposed by a group of parliamentarians. It will be likely envisaged in the military legislation, as well as in the law "On armed forces and other armed groups" that is expected to be discussed.

It is aimed at qualitative change in the military buildup, mobilization of forces by giving the General Staff high-status that meets modern standards, as well as the NATO standards. It is planned to develop the draft proposal and include it in the agenda during the discussion of the law "On armed forces and other armed groups".

Zahid Oruj, member of the Parliament’s security and defense committee, told APA that he is one the authors of the proposal. Stressing the importance of the complete elimination of Soviet stereotypes, the MP noted that this issue should be solved for the development of relations with NATO and complete separation of the duties of servicemen and civilians working in military system: “Socio-political duties of the Defense Ministry and management of military forces must be specified. Military buildup in all NATO countries is in this form. The powers of the General Staff must be specified.”
