The program, which is being prepared for the implementation of objectives of the Maritime Security Strategy, covers a number of measures, including military security.
The military security is the core of the program. It includes purchase of new ships, modernization of fleet, strengthening of coastal protection, expansion of opportunities for sea control and prevention of environmental threats.
The program is expected to be agreed and approved in early 2014.
The Maritime Security Strategy was approved in September, 2013.
9 possible external and 8 internal threats are reflected in the Strategy.
