Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The national armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle designed by experts of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry has been tested.

APA reports that the works are underway to arm the vehicle.

According to the technical conditions of the Defense Ministry, the vehicle is being improved. The combat module demonstrated on the experimental prototype will be further improved.

After the improvement works, ammunition feeding of rocket launcher and AGS-30 grenade launcher will be conducted within the combat module.

The national armored reconnaissance and combat vehicle exhibited in September, 2013 for the first time significantly differs from the Soviet-produced BRDM-2 for its external design, protection capability, armament and other capabilities.

The vehicle has a high protection capability against mine explosions, shells, handmade explosives and bullets. The frame of the vehicle has been designed in the V-shaped form to provide better mine protection. The dual armored body of the frame is also capable of protecting the crew from armor-piercing bullets of B- 32. Under the orders, the vehicle can be enhanced with additional armor. Another feature of the vehicle is that it is not reversed by the explosion.

The armament of the combat module includes 23mm GSh-23 twin-barrel cannon, 7.62 mm PKT machine gun, 30 mm AGS-17 grenade launcher, S-8 (S-5) rocket launchers with capacity of 4 rockets, D-81 smoothbore cannon, optical and thermal shooting ranges. The vehicle controlling system has been automated.
