Paramount Group improves capabilities for design and creation of armored vehicles

Abu-Dhabi. Rashad Suleymanov, Shamil Alibeyov – APA. Paramount Group, the largest privately owned defense and aerospace company of the Republic of South Africa, is improving its capabilities for the design and creation of armored vehicles.

APA reports that at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2012 started in Abu Dhabi on February 17, Paramount Group announced that it purchased the South Africa's Industrial and Automotive Design (IAD).

IAD, which has been functioning for 160 years, is in the top three for automotive design. The company is designing 15 tonnes-mine-protected vehicles with the speed of 150 km / hour.

At the IDEX-2013, Paramount Group exhibited the mine-protected armored vehicle Marauder, lightweight armored vehicle the Marauder Patrol, internal security vehicle Maverick, armored infantry vehicle Mbombe and the model of the light reconnaissance and counter-insurgency aircraft Ahrlac designed by African engineers and presented information about the company’s projects.

Matador and Marauder mine-protected vehicles are being produced in Baku with the participation of Paramount Group, the main foreign partner of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry. The first vehicles designed within the joint cooperation were demonstrated in the military parade in Baku in June, 2011.
