Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA NATO has agreed to the second phase of the project on carrying out mine and UXO clearance operations in Jeyranchol area of Azerbaijan, senior expert of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Adil Aslanov told APA.
According to Aslanov, NATO has recently given its consent to the project. The US will be a leading country in the second phase of the project. The second phase, which will start in June next year and last for two years, envisages mine and UXO clearance operations in 24 mln square meter area.
According to the ANAMA expert, in the first phase, which started in April last year and is continuing now, it is planned to carry out clearance operations in 19 mln square meter area. Totally, mine and UXO clearance operations must be carried out in 64 mln square meter area of Jeyranchol.
