Azerbaijani State Border Service and Latvian State Border Guards sign agreement on cooperation

APA reports that chief of State Border Service, Lieutenant-General Elchin Guliyev and chief of Latvian Border Guards General Gunars Dabolinsh signed the agreement. Following the signing ceremony, Gunars Dabolinsh told journalists that the agreement will play an important role in the extension of the relations between the bodies responsible for border security of the countries. He also underlined that he discussed with his Azerbaijani colleagues security of land and sea boundaries, exchange of experience in qualifying and training border service officers, and reforms carried out by international organizations in the field of border security.
Chief of State Border Service Elchin Guliyev said that the issues on border security were discussed at the meting.
“We attach great importance to the international cooperation. Azerbaijan is located in a region that the security of its borders may influence border security of Europe,” he said.
Elchin Guliyev added that Azerbaijan closely cooperates and exchanges experience with the European Union countries, including Latvia in the field of border security.
The delegation headed by General Gunars Dabolinsh arrived in Baku on February 25. The delegation visited aviation unit of State Border Service, acquainted with the activity of Coast Security service, border control in Heydar Aliyev International Airport and Cargo terminal.
