Azerbaijani Defense Minister: Some European states demonstrate double standards in Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

The ministry’s press service told APA that the minister spoke about the positive results of the new cooperation between the two countries and underlined the importance of continuing the relations. Safar Abiyev said that Armenian armed forces continue to occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory and over one million people have become refugees.
Defense minister has also received newly-appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Confederation of Switzerland to Azerbaijan Alain Guidetti. Safar Abiyev briefed about integration of Azerbaijan into Euro-Atlantic space, broad economic reforms carried out in the country and conformation of the army to modern standards. Speaking about Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict the minister noted that the conflict is protracted due to the unconstructive position of Armenia. The minister said that some European states demonstrate double standards in this issue.
“Azerbaijan prefers peace talks. But if there are no concrete results, we are able to liberate our lands even in a military way,” the minister said. /APA/
