One more echelon loaded with weapons and military equipment withdrawn from Russian 62nd military base in Batumi was delivered to Russian servicemen at 14.30, Azerbaijan State Railway officer Ashraf Mammadaliyev told the APA.
The echelon received yesterday at 20.45 consisted of 18 wagons. No incident occurred while the echelon was passing Azerbaijani territory.
The echelon was protected by Interior Troops and Russian servicemen. The next echelon will be withdrawn on May 24.
Ten echelons are to be withdrawn from the military base in Batumi this year and sent to Russia through Azerbaijan. Four more echelons are expected to be delivered to the 12th military base in Gumru.
According to the agreement between Russia and Georgia, the 62nd base in Akhalkalaki will be closed by the end of 2007 and 12th base in Batumi in 2008.
About 25 echelons were delivered from Georgian bases through Azerbaijan in May-July and December, 2006. /APA/
