Russian Defense Ministry’s official: “The prorogation of lease of Gabala radar station is discussed at the interstate levelâ€

The mutual cooperation between defense ministries of both countries on the basis of annual cooperation plans is implemented in accordance with these documentsâ€, Head of General Directorate for the International Military Cooperation of the Russian Defense Ministry, Colonel Alexander Kshimovski told APA’s Moscow correspondent.
According to him, the signed documents consider the establishment of regular relations at the level of leaders of Russian and Azerbaijani defense organizations, exchange of delegations for discussion of military and military and technical issues arousing mutual interest, as well as participation in various joint military and scientific events.
“Besides, according to the agreement reached between the defense ministries of both countries on December 25, 2000, Russian military education establishments are training Azerbaijani servicemen. Their education and accommodation costs are paid at the expense of federal budget of the Russian Federation. 40 students of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were involved in such training in 2011-2012â€.
Kshimovski also touched on issue of prorogation of lease of the Gabala radar station: “The prorogation of lease of Gabala radar station is discussed at the interstate level. As the negotiations between Russian and Azerbaijani delegations haven’t been finished yet, I consider inappropriate to comment on the issue of Gabala radar stationâ€.
