Production of defense goods increased by 2.4 times, civil products by 7.3% in Azerbaijan last year

Press service of the Ministry of Defense Industry told APA that it was noted at the board meeting on the outcomes of 2010.

Minister Yaver Jamalov said 7 new production units were established at the enterprises of the ministry in 2010.
â€œThese production units established to supply the Armed Forces with modern defense products and the national economy with the devices and spare parts used in machine building, instrument-making industry, electric engineering and communications are working at full capacity. The number of the kinds has increased by 17%. The Ministry of Defense Industry is closely cooperating with more than 60 companies from 20 developed countries in the field of aviation, navigation, instrument-making,â€ he said.

Minister said the defense and civil products made at the enterprises of the Ministry of Defense Industry are demonstrated at the international exhibitions. 27 kinds of defense products were for the first time demonstrated at the international exhibition in 2009. In 2010 the Ministry of Defense Industry participated in three international exhibitions (SOFEX-2010, MSPO-2010 and AAD - Africa Aerospace and Defense - 2010) and demonstrated more than 60 kinds of products. The Ministry demonstrated 59 kinds of products at the first National Exhibition of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan in November, 2010.

Deputy ministers Yahya Musayev and Tofig Rafiyev gave information about the outcomes of the activities of the ministryâ€™s units and enterprises.

Minister Yaver Jamalov gave special instructions for fulfillment of the tasks given by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on the development of the countryâ€™s defense industry.
