1 990 unexploded mines and munitions found and disarmed in Azerbaijan last month

Baku– APA. 2 450 481 square meters of territory was cleared of mines and explosives in Azerbaijan in October, 2010, press service of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA) told APA.

1 990 mines and PHS, as well as 10 anti-tank mines were found and disarmed in this period.

425 experts and 115 assistants, as well as six mine-clearing vehicles and 30 mine-sniffing dogs were involved in the mine actions.

ANAMA cleared 146 350 726 square m so far. 629 397 mines and PHS were found and disarmed.

The operations are conducted in the regions of Tartar, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Tovuz, Agjabedi, Aghstafa and Samukh, as well as in Garadagh district of Baku City. ANAMA’s quick operation group conducted mine-clearance operation in Evoglu village of Aghdam region.

One PHS incident was reported in October, 2010.
