Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The 9th International Defense Industry Fair IDEF-2009 has started in Istanbul today, APA reports. Addressing the opening of the fair, Turkish Armed Forces Foundation General Manager Engin Alan said 400 high-ranking officials from 69 countries and 3 international organizations, including 24 ministers, were attending the fair. The experts of Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry are demonstrating their products in the fair.
Along with multi-purpose weapons, Azerbaijani experts are demonstrating large-caliber (14.5mm) gun “Istiglalâ€, telescope produced in “Alov†plant and submachine gun (Shimshek). Pistols produced jointly by Turkey-based TISAS company and Azerbaijan’s “Telemekhanika†plant are demonstrated in the stand of TISAS.
IDEF-2009 is the first international defense fair, which Azerbaijani defense industry enterprises attend independently. Azerbaijan demonstrates its products in 30 sq m stand. Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov, commander of Interior Troops Zakir Hasanov and other officials are attending the fair.
