Baku hosts event dedicated to Golden Fox Award winner Steppe Man


An event dedicated to Steppe Man, a movie by Azerbaijani filmmaker Shamil Aliyev, was held in Baku on Dec. 22.  

 

Addressing the event, Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sanjay Rana congratulated filmmaker Aliyev for his movie being awarded the prize of Golden Fox Awards at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival in India on December 5-6, APA reported.  

 

The ambassador noted that Azerbaijani movies are shot at a high level.

 

“We’d like to bring a lot of Indian films to your country. We plan to organize the Indian Film Festival in the coming weeks,” he added.

 

Shamil Aliyev, in turn, said that the Steppe Man movie, which was shot in 2012, is one of the most successful examples of Azerbaijani movie.  

 

He noted that the movie has already attended 35 international film festivals and forums and received a number of awards.

 

“The movie was given 5 awards for “Best Film”, 3 awards for “Best Director”. Movies of more than 75 countries participated at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival. The competition jury consisted of representatives from seven countries. The Steppe Man was selected one of the ten movies after being named the best in the nomination “Best Feature Film”. After that, the movie was awarded the prize of Golden Fox Awards,” added the filmmaker.
