Today in Istanbul, during the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, the evaluation of the parties' proposals and demands regarding a ceasefire was targeted, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in his opening speech at the Türkiye-Russia-Ukraine trilateral meeting held at Çırağan Palace, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
He noted that among the new goals is also the issue of prisoner exchange.
Fidan also emphasized the importance of preparing for a meeting between the leaders of the two countries: “By reducing the gap in views on mutual issues, it will be possible to pave the way for lasting peace. Our fundamental expectation is to achieve positive progress and the desired outcome as soon as possible through productive talks.”
According to the Turkish minister, US President Donald Trump’s confidence in peace has opened a new window of opportunity.
