"Pakistan recently succeeded in defeating the enemy," Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif said this during his speech ahead of the concert dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day, held in the city of Lachin, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Lachin reports.

“The population of that hostile country is five times greater than Pakistan’s. Its economic power also exceeds ours. That country has spent hundreds of billions over decades to acquire the most advanced weapons in the world.

On April 22, following the killing of 26 people, India hastily made baseless accusations against Pakistan, attempted to fabricate facts, and tried to deliver a message to the world that Pakistan was to blame for the incident. We immediately proposed an open international investigation. But instead, India attacked Pakistan, killing 33 innocent civilians — including children, women, and the elderly — and injuring 55 others. We could not leave this unanswered. We had to defend Pakistan. In a short time, our Air Force shot down six Indian military aircraft, including drones. We sent a message to India — that we promote peace and prosperity in the region. But if we are attacked, we will respond with full force,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that on the 9th and 10th days of the confrontation, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes against India: “Before that, India had targeted our airports with missile attacks. We responded by striking India's military infrastructure. They killed innocent civilians, while we targeted military facilities. In the morning, India reached out, requesting a ceasefire. We responded positively to their request. We believe there must be peace and a ceasefire, and we must avoid war by all possible means.”
