Selahattin Demirtaş and others accused over "Kobani incidents" were read their verdict in Türkiye-UPDATED

Former co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş has been read a verdict, APA reports citing NTV.

Selahattin Demirtaş was sentenced to 42 years in prison.

A verdict was read out to those accused in the "Kobani events" in Türkiye, APA reports citing Türkiye's NTV channel.

The co-chairs of PKK's political branch HDP Selahattin Demirtaş was sentenced to 28 years 6 motnhs in prison, Figen Yüksekdag to 30 years, and the former chairman of Mardin City Municipality Ahmet Türk was to 10 years.

Altan Tan, Ayhan Bilgen and Aysel Tuğluk were acquitted.

Note that during the Kobani incidents in 2014, 31 people, including two police officers, died in Diyarbakir, 460 people got injured. The former co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş was arrested in connection with this case in 2019.
