Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has described the Karabakh movement as a threat to Armenia's statehood during his speech in the Armenian Parliament today, APA reports, citing Sputnik Armenia.
He warned that any attempt to revive the movement would be destructive for the country.
According to him, after Armenia declared independence, the state model was primarily built around solving the Karabakh issue — everything else was sacrificed for this idea. While he initially supported this model, he later concluded, based on the information available to him, that although Armenia saw its independence as a means to resolve the Karabakh problem, some foreign actors viewed the Karabakh issue as a tool to hinder Armenia’s development and eventually undermine its statehood.
The Prime Minister asserted that continuing the Karabakh movement is destructive, as it has become and remains an instrument against Armenia’s independence and sovereignty.
