Four members of a family were killed Tuesday due to suffocation after a fire broke out inside their house in the Indian capital territory Delhi, police said, APA reports citing Xinhua.
The fire broke out early on the day on the first floor of a two-storey building in the Prem Nagar area of Dwarka, a police official said. "The fire was completely doused and bodies were shifted from the house to a hospital for post-mortem examination."
According to officials, the victims were identified as a couple and their two young sons.
Preliminary investigations carried out by the police suggest that a short circuit might have caused the fire.
Chances of fire in Indian houses are usually high as people ignore safety standards and store combustible material haphazardly.
